Daybreak Eastlake Park and Greenway

East Lake Park and Greenway is a 12.5 acre park within the Daybreak community and serves as a central recreation and pedestrian corridor that connects with other open spaces.

Starting at the eastern park edge, an overlook provides panoramic views that encompass the Salt Lake Valley and Wasatch Mountains. Benches along the way provide ample opportunities to pause and moment and take in their surroundings. Community gardens terrace down a gentle slope where residents enjoy growing their own produce while getting to know their neighbors. The gardens are designed to reduce construction costs and yearly maintenance.

At the park center, opportunities for activities and socializing abound. A grass field takes on numerous roles depending on the season such as a storm water retention basin, winter sledding hill, a play field, and community event area. The courts and pool are terraced which provides a dramatic separation of uses. The poolhouse architecture, walls, fences, and trees frame views, provide shade, and provide a sense of enclosure.

As the park widens going westward, a quaint flagstone path meanders away from the main walk where sculptures built to handle active use are placed within colorful perennial gardens. People have the choice of engaging in play or enjoying the sculptures or observing the surrounding activities.

The West edge of the park borders Oquirrh Lake. Here families congregate near the waters edge and beach. All ages can be seen to playing on the playground compiled of net structures, slides, swings and spinners that use slope and interconnectivity like an obstacle course. The transparent netting allows parents to keep a close eye on their kids. Basketball courts, open lawn, sand areas, benches, and picnic tables provide various uses, all with a backdrop of the lake and mountains.
